This video is a case study of various experiences typical of industrial development activities.  It is built around a simulation exercise taped live during an economic development seminar.  The tape features a fictional community and its leaders pursuing an economic development prospect.  It's designed to show communities the do's and don'ts of actively pursuing industrial projects.  Length:  53 Minutes

VT 173 - Harvesting Hometown Jobs
This video, sponsored by the National Association of Towns and Townships, gives communities ideas about how to start new businesses and improve existing ones and how to utilize local, natural and man-made local resources.  It also gives information about job training and tourist trade.  Length:  13 Minutes

VT 175 - Your Hometown
This tape gives three examples from Utah, Nebraska, and Georgia about what rural communities are doing for economic development.  It features examples of home grown business, transition training for displaced farmers and using local resources such as tourism.  Length:  58 Minutes

This tape takes a look at customer service through the eyes of a film producer who is making a business film on customer service.  The producer stresses the importance of the shift from an industrial economy to a service economy.  He also addresses the major service problems of job problem spillover, no consideration, lack of listening and depersonalized service.  Length:  24 Minutes

This tape reviews a four-point plan that towns can use to revitalize their downtown economies.  The four points are:  organization, design, promotion and economic restructuring.  Two small towns that have successfully turned their failing downtown economies around are profiled.  They explain how they used the four points to meet the challenges of revitalization efforts.  Length:  21 Minutes

This tape emphasizes the importance of selling an image when revitalizing a downtown economy.  The key to promoting a better image is capitalizing on the unique aspects of a downtown such as architecture on older buildings.  Many examples of facades are shown before and after renovation.  Length:  21 Minutes
